Need help, found a bug, or have an idea? Email brawlbuilder@fourcornersdevelopmentgroup.com. Tell us your device, your iOS or Android version, and what happened.

Get Brawl Builder free on the App Store (iOS 17 or later, or a Mac with Apple silicon) or on Google Play (Android 7 or later).

Playing

Is Brawl Builder on Android?
Yes: it's free on Google Play for Android phones and tablets. Community levels are shared between iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, so everyone plays the same levels. Sharing your own levels and online play from Android are coming soon.

Can I play on a Mac?
Yes, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later): get Brawl Builder from the Mac App Store. Play with the keyboard (WASD to move, J to attack, K to jump, L for your special, Esc to pause) or a game controller.

How do I play on a touch screen?
Touch anywhere on the left half of the screen and drag to move. Use the buttons on the right to attack and jump. Attacking again quickly chains a combo; walking into an enemy grabs them.

Can I use a game controller?
Yes. Connect a controller in your device's Bluetooth settings. Press X to attack and A to jump, and Start to pause.

Can friends play on the same device?
Yes, on iPad: up to four players, with a controller for each extra player. Anyone can join mid-stage by pressing attack. On iPhone the screen is too small to share, so play together online instead.

Why are some stages locked?
Each game's stages unlock in order. Beat a stage to open the next one.

Online play

How do I play online?
Tap Play Online on the title screen and sign in to Game Center if asked. Apple's matchmaking screen lets you invite friends (Game Center friends or anyone through Messages), find players nearby, or quick-match with other players. Up to four players can join a match.

Who picks the stage?
The host (the first player in the lobby) picks the game and stage. Everyone picks their own fighter and taps READY, and the match starts once everyone is ready.

What happens if someone leaves or their connection drops?
Their fighter leaves the fight and everyone else keeps playing. Anyone can invite them back from the menu (or the lobby's + Invite button); they rejoin at the next stage.

The game says "Waiting for..." during a match.
One player's connection has slowed down. The fight carries on as soon as their moves arrive. If nothing arrives for 15 seconds, that player is taken out of the match so the rest of you can carry on. A strong Wi-Fi connection helps.

Level editor

Where are my levels saved?
On your device, inside the app. Tap Save in the editor, and they appear in the editor's Load menu and in Select Game.

Can I share my levels?
Yes. Beat your level in a play test first (press PLAY in the editor and clear it), then tap Share. You need to be signed in. Shared levels appear in Select Game > Community Levels, where anyone can play, rate or report them. If you change a shared level, beat it again and share it to replace the old version. To take one down, open it in Community Levels and choose Take it down.

Sound, ads and purchases

How do I turn the music or sound effects off?
During a stage, tap the note or speaker buttons next to the pause button. You can also use Settings on the title screen. If you hear nothing at all, check that your phone isn't in silent mode.

When do ads show?
A full-screen ad now and then between stages, never during a fight, and a small banner on the menus (not during play or in the editor).

I bought Remove Ads on another device. How do I get it here?
Open Settings in the app and tap Restore Purchases. Use the same Apple Account you bought it with.

My scores aren't on the leaderboard.
Make sure you're signed in to Game Center (Settings > Game Center on your device). Scores are posted when you clear a stage in one of the built-in games.
